Bathroom mirrors, shower doors, and windows can look clean from across the room and still show every streak when Columbus morning light hits them. The problem is usually not effort. It is too much cleaner, the wrong cloth, and drying a surface with the same cloth that lifted the dirt. The two-cloth method fixes all three, and it is simple to do at home.
What you need
You need two clean microfiber cloths, plain water or a small amount of glass cleaner. Label one cloth wet and one dry so you do not mix them up. Avoid paper towels for the final pass, because they can leave lint behind. Avoid cloths washed with fabric softener, which can leave a film on glass. And keep cloths used for kitchen grease or tile out of this job. Clean cloths matter more than strong chemicals.
Step 1: Remove dust and spots first
Wipe the mirror or glass lightly with the dry cloth to pick up dust, toothpaste specks, and loose hair. For stuck spots, dampen just that spot and give it a few seconds to soften before wiping.
Step 2: Use the wet cloth, sparingly
Lightly dampen the first cloth. Do not soak it, and do not spray cleaner heavily across the whole mirror. Too much liquid is the most common cause of streaks, because it has to go somewhere as it dries. Work in sections, top to bottom, using overlapping S-shaped strokes. For shower doors, repeat a light pass rather than scrubbing harder.
Step 3: Buff immediately with the dry cloth
Before the surface dries on its own, buff it with the second, completely dry cloth using light circular motions, then finish with straight strokes. This step removes the haze. Flip the dry cloth to a clean side if it starts to feel damp. Check your work from an angle, standing to the side of the light. Streaks that are invisible straight-on show up clearly at an angle.
Common mistakes to avoid
Do not clean glass in direct, hot sunlight if you can avoid it. The cleaner dries too fast and streaks set before you buff. Do not use the same cloth for mirrors and for sinks or counters, because it transfers residue back onto the glass.
When to hand it off
Mirrors and glass are part of a standard clean from Ohio Supreme Clean, along with kitchens, bathrooms, floors, and dusting. Standard cleans are $139 for a studio or 1-bedroom, $189 for 2 to 3 bedrooms, and $259 for 4 or more bedrooms, plus Ohio sales tax where it applies. First cleans are full price, and recurring savings start from the second visit.
